YFriday
End of a Revolution
I am sat on
what Dez calls a sofa, but I am not sure about that, situated
in a special place known as Broadwater Studios (The home of recording
in the North East) Dez and Gavs “baby”. The background
is a mix of beeps alerts and the occasional man sobs informing
them of incoming messages of surprise, support, sadness and celebration
of the forthcoming end of an era – Yfriday.
It has been
an unexpected privilege over the last few years to spend precious
days evenings and even nights (its def warts and all) with these
4 humble men of God.
Highlights
for me have been being there sensing and experiencing Gods anointing
fall during times of worship and music lead by YFriday in fields,
theme parks, warehouses and church buildings, driving 4 tired
boys desperate to lie in a warm bed to the nearest hotel and rest
for the night ready for another gruelling day on the road, sitting
in a country pub in Sussex with 3 of the 4 off loading and relaxing
having just opened The Big Church Day out listening to these real
people laughing, joking and moaning that even for them life is
hard, and feeling very humble when they all accepted an invite
from my wife and I to allow us to serve and feed them at our home
in Stoke.
My experience
of life as a Christian, Church and Doing outreach has taught me
many lessons, one of the most important being this;
I was on mission years ago in St Ives in Cornwall, there I learnt
loads but one thing that has stayed in my mind ever since was
this, a local phrase “He wouldn’t let it lie”
meaning its not good to let things go on and on just for the sake
of it. Many Churches, organisations, business and yes music groups
do the same. Laying something down which is very dear to you,
and also very dear to countless others is hard.
Can YFriday
achieve more than they have through Revolution, Universal Broadcast
and of course the brilliant Great and Glorious – we will
never know. What we do know is that as individuals who have succeeded
together they will definitely sail on to unknown fields of experience.
God will continue to amaze them and us through the revelation
of His plans for them (Many of which have already been revealed
and already on the move).
So personally
I look forward to the autumn of 2010 when the singular banner
of YFriday is laid down (Probably at Newcastle city hall) and
the new 4 fold ministry of 4 men of God, talented, gifted, successful
yet extremely humble, is raised and released.
“But
those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly
high on wings like eagles. They will run and not go weary. They
will walk and not go faint.”
